Pat Reilly on the Comedy Business

This week, The Annex sits down with Pat Reilly from the University of California, Irvine.  Pat’s researches career development and social networks in the comedy industry, and finished a multiyear participant-observation study in Los Angeles’ comedy scene.   His  “The Layers of Clown: Career Development in Cultural Production Industries” was published in Academy of Management Discoveries.  Pat also hosts his own podcast, Goods from the Woods.  

We also discuss the Southern Sociological Society’s annual meeting program cover, the National Geographic race cover, and an exchange of words between Robert Samuelson and David Brady.

Patrick Reilly is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Organization and Management area at The Paul Merage School of Business, University of California, Irvine. He has a PhD in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he specialized in organizational studies and economic sociology.
